In the Philippines, it is very important to familiarize the first 4-digit of the mobile number in order to know what network or SIM card is your contacts are using. We have 11-digits number format for local dialling (e.g. 0999-1234567) and the first 4-digit serves as network prefix. It is used to determine from which of the telcos (Smart, TNT, Globe, TM, DITO, GOMO) networks the number belong.
Knowing what network your contact is using helps you find the right promo or network services to avail in order to connect with them. For example, if your using a Smart network and you want to texts or call a Globe mobile number, you need to avail a promo that has unlimited calls to all networks to be able to call other network without being charge at a standard rate.
