This means that if you're on a smartphone like me, use only Opera to access facebook, twitter, yahoo, and gmail. IDK if there's a way to open YM on a standard browser, but if not, do not access your YM app. Same goes with FB, youtube, twitter, and any other apps that actually go online. If you do, Smart will, WITHOUT ANY WARNING AT ALL, deduct 10 pesos off your load credits, because Php10 is the minimum charge for going online through whatever app (10 pesos - 30 mins regular rate).
I had this happen to me just last Sunday. I'd loaded 115 pesos the night before, took out the Opera15 promo, and by Monday morning had only Php7.50 left after trying to access YM and FB through their respective apps. On the one hand, it *was* an experiment to see whether I'd actually get charged, so I knew of that possibility. Smart's registration notice did say the promo was strictly for browsing (didn't specify, browsing on Opera ONLY), but I also got a 15-mb allowance for videos and downloading. As it happened, I got charged several times, my sign-in kept failing on both apps, and I haven't been able to figure out how the hell that 15-mb thing was supposed to work.
But still, I do think Smart came up with a great idea here of lowering the unlisurf rate to 15 pesos. One thing they can actually add on to this is to come up with a list of sites that their system would identify as streaming/downloading sites, and if for whatever reason users go into those sites a screen would pop up first advising of the charge and asking for confirmation to proceed. Overall the promo is a helluvalot useful if you want news or email delivered to your phone in real time. All you need is the Opera app. Then again, I do have other apps like youtube, sky.fm, fb, and ym, which are almost always up and running. I regularly use my phone as a wifi hotspot as well. So I think I'd stick with the Unli50.
