If you received “Unknown device” on the Device Manager of your Dell Latitude laptop, all you need to do is install the right drivers to solved that problem. Here in my post I managed to solved and fixed this problem by installing Dell Security Device Driver for 32 bit operating system (WindowsXP). You may see the steps below and tips below on how to install those drivers.

Dell Latitude E6400 Broadcom USH and Contacted SmartCard Drivers

Install Broadcom USH and Contacted SmartCard Drivers

  1. Download the Dell Security Device Driver for 32 bit here.
  2. If the link doesn’t work, you may go to the Dell website and search for “Dell Security Device Driver for 32-bit” then select the right driver based on your BIOS version.

That will solve the Broadcom USH driver problem.

To Contact Smartcard Unknown Device:

  1. All you need to do is open the Device Manager, right-click on the unknown Contact SmartCard device, then click update driver. Just follow the update driver wizard to successfully update the driver.
  2. Make sure that you have a working internet connection when updating the driver.

That’s how I managed to solve the issue. If you have any questions, feel free to drop a comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
